10 Verses to Help You Through Lockdown

Adjusting to life in lockdown has brought new challenges for many of us for different reasons; some may have increased responsibility for childcare or care for a family member, some people may have lost their jobs or suffered a loss in their stream of income, some may just have too much free time on their hands and are struggling with idleness, or some may be experiencing pain or loss as a result of COVID-19. Whatever your situation is, here are some key scriptures to help you to remain joy-filled, steadfast in your faith, and encouraged to continue carrying out the will of God no matter the circumstance.

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”

John 16:33

“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in the secret will reward you openly”

Matthew 6:6

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’. For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”

Matthew 6:31-33

“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lusts of the flesh”

Galatians 5:16

“In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good”

Ecclesiastes 11:6

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work”

2 Corinthians 9:8

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God”

Romans 8:18-19

“Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints”

Ephesians 6:18

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth”

Psalm 46:10

And so during this lockdown, let us not be conformed to or influenced by the fear and confusion in the world, but rather let us spend time reading and meditating over these scriptures so that our everyday lives can be governed by the word of God, and so that we can continue to have peace and be prosperous in Christ Jesus.
