All Eyes on Him

If there is one thing many can agree on (believer or not) is that 2020 has been an unpredictable and eye-opening year so far. It has brought forth numerous surprises, plot twists and turns and left droves of people uncertain about multiple things. Leaders of nations, governments and churches have had to admit that they don't quite know what they are doing but are taking things day by day. Yet, in all of this one thing remains evident and that is that there is nothing uncertain when it comes to God.

If there is one lesson we can learn in this season let it be taken from this verse that says:

This is what the Lord says to Israel: “Seek me and live.”

Amos 5:4

As the world is being shaken by a pandemic, rocked by racial injustice, and crushed by economic crises (to name a few), we the children of God must not forget to keep our hearts and minds on Christ and the power of His Gospel message. The bible tells us that ‘there is nothing new under the sun and

that what has been done will be done again’ (Ecclesiastes 1:9).

So even though for the first time, many of us are witnessing and experiencing these trying circumstances - it is not the first time these things have happened nor is it the time to take our eyes off of God.

This is the season to stay focused and not be swayed by what we see around us or be led by our emotions. Now more than ever, we should strive to stay committed to Him as He holds the answers to all things. God is the only one that can keep your mind afloat and grant you a peace that surpasses all human understanding in times of trouble.

Scripture lets us know He ‘never sleeps nor slumbers’ (Psalm 121:1) so when you feel that

all hope is lost, take comfort in His word and know that this too shall pass.

We often hear people quote ‘What the devil meant for evil God turned it around for our good’. This isn't just a 'feel-good' statement but rather a biblical fact as seen in Genesis 50:20.

I know it isn't always easy to look to God when going through extremely painful situations but rest assured that God has not forgotten about you, He knows what is going on, is always in control and knows how to cause ALL things (not some) to work together for the good of those that love Him (Romans 8:28)

Finally, the bible tells us:

‘The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing’

(Psalm 34:10)

Let this stand as a reassuring reminder that as long as you seek Him and stay focused on Him, there shall be no losing! (no matter what it looks like).

We don't fully understand the plans or ways of God but from His word, we can all be encouraged that

we will live (eternally) if all eyes are on Him.
