As we have entered the new year, most of us have sat down and written out our desires and a list
of things that we would like to accomplish throughout this year. Sometimes we are blessed enough to tick off each box and other times we find different reasons as to why things didn't get done. But I encourage you all to let this be a year of consistent perseverance. Instead of waiting for someone to give you their approval or find reasons to procrastinate, move as Joshua did when it was time to claim the blessings that God had laid out before him and the children of Israel (Joshua 1:2-5).
“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.
Many times what stands in the way of us achieving the desires that God has placed inside of us is ourselves, through fear, doubt and procrastination! Several occasions we find ourselves overthinking, over planning and using our own might to make things happen for us. It slips our minds that if God has made a way for you, regardless of what life may bring your way, ‘If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;’ (Isaiah 1:19)
One of my favourite scriptures in the bible is Isaiah 1:18 ‘Come now, and let us reason
together’. This is extremely powerful as it indicates to us that God is calling us to work together
with Him. Some of us are waiting for God to physically move us. But the truth is, He is waiting
on you. He is waiting on you to apply for that new job or position at your workplace; to start that
new business venture or even just to talk to that person about Him!
God is calling us this year to move in boldness in Him. He has opened many doors and laid out a
path for you but it is up to you, as we would now say, just ‘shoot your shot’. There really isn't anything
When He instructs Joshua to arise, He also commands and reassures him:
“Yes, be bold and strong! Banish fear and doubt! For remember, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
God is reassuring you that no matter what the circumstance is, He is with you. All Joshua needed
was a word from God and he went after what was his. This year stop doubting yourself or second-guessing God's will for your life but instead just go for it, He says that He will be with you every step
of the way. The bible describes ‘a double-minded person as being unstable in all his ways’.
(James 1:8). Let us not be this person but instead let our feet be planted in the word and power of
God to dominate and possess where He has declared for us.
Get more into the word and activate the power that lies within you with His word, allow your faith to
be filled in Him. Every obstacle that comes your way, know that He is with you, know that there is a
scripture to combat all your worries and fears.
All God is asking of us this year is to ‘Only be strong and very courageous’ (Joshua 1;7)
He has laid a path out for us, let's go get what the Lord has for us with nothing but boldness and
courage....and a good pair of shoes!
